How records are reviewed
A large directory is useful only when visitors can understand where its information came from and which pages are strong enough to stand on their own.
1. Start with a public source
Records are loaded from documented provincial registries, regulated-contractor lists, municipal business data, and other government sources.
2. Preserve provenance
We retain the source category, source name, public URL, identifier, and last-seen date when the source provides them.
3. Normalize carefully
Names, trades, provinces, and cities are standardized for search. Separate source records may be joined only when the available identifiers support the match.
4. Limit search indexing
Filtered result URLs are not indexed. Standalone contractor pages are indexable only when they include a location, licence identifier, public source link, and directly verifiable company website.
5. Show limitations
A record can be current in our latest source snapshot and later change. The original registry remains authoritative, and inclusion is not a recommendation or guarantee.
6. Correct with evidence
Reported changes are checked against the business website or an updated public record before the directory is changed.
